Film Score Unit is a series of lessons focused on composition techniques in film, how character themes are inspired (adding literacy vocabulary into the mix), and how music can affect so much in film as a whole. The students will be given activities to do throughout the unit and a big project at the end, where they become the composers and make their OWN film score for scenes in a movie.
This Film Score Composition Unit contains:
- ALL 7 lesson instructional slideshows
- 7 handouts for each instructional slideshow
- rubric and handout for the Film Score Composition Project too.
The unit takes roughly two weeks with a 45 minute class period. The project can take anywhere from 3 days to 1 week depending on the extent you have your students compose. This is great if you want to reach students on a more present culture topic and still incorporate classical music with pop influences. I've taught this with many different backgrounds in the classroom and my students LOVE this project! They take pride in their work and love to show off what they create.
